PAULGICKNOLA

I am a 2-dimensional artist living in New Orleans, LA. I paint and draw, usually with watercolor and ink, but also with pastel, oils, acrylic, and graphite. I use these materials traditionally and in mixed media techniques. I generally use a very realistic and detailed approach, with vibrant color. My preferred subjects are landscapes, both natural and urban; as well as parades, bands, and festivities. My subjects are scenes and views that strike me, both traveling and exploring my home. I try to show the beauty in decay, and the joy in chaos. New Orleans is, of course, the perfect city for this, as nature and architecture intertwine, and every celebration skirts the edge of madness.
